I. Campout Theme:

Canoeing & Outdoor Exploration, Broken Bow, Ok.

II. Departure Time and Place:

Meet at church at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16th, 2024.  Depart at 6:30 p.m. Sharp.

III. Camp

We’ll be camping at Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma. Our reserved campsites are Grasshopper GH001 through GH006.

IV. Transportation:

We will travel by car and bring the troop trailer for this campout.

V. Return Time:

We plan to leave Beavers Bend by 8:30 AM on Sunday, returning to the Otto Middle School area between 12–1 PM.

VI. Food:

Scouts will eat dinner prior to arrival or on the road Friday night. Patrols will meal plan and cook for the weekend.

  • Saturday breakfast – Hot meal at camp
  • Saturday lunch – Sack lunch or riverside snack
  • Saturday dinner – Hot meal
  • Sunday breakfast – Grab-and-go before departure

VII. Personal Equipment List:

Necessary Gear:
Class A uniform for travel

  • RaingearLight jacket
  • Closed-toe water shoes (required for canoeing)
  • Hiking boots or dry shoes
  • 2 sets of clothes
  • Swimsuit or quick-dry clothing for paddling
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag (expected lows in the 50s)
  • Sleeping pad
  • Day pack
  • Mess kit
  • Spork or spoon
  • Flashlight/headlamp with extra batteries
  • 1-liter water bottle
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray

Recommended Gear:

  • Dry bag or ziplock bags for personal items
  • Extra change of clothes
  • Sunglasses and hat
  • Toiletries/personal hygiene kit   

Optional Gear:

  • Camp stool
  • Camera
  • Lip balm
  • Fishing gear (if time allows)

VIII.  Cost:

  • Scouts: Troop will be paying for half of the canoe Estimated ~$15 for the canoe and money for food; final amount will be confirmed at patrol meeting)
  • Adults: Canoe cost and campsite split (contact trip coordinator for details)

Note: Canoe reservations must be finalized 7 days prior to trip. Fee is $50 per canoe, paid at time of use.

IX. Weather:

Forecast currently looks favorable with highs in the 70s–80s and lows in the 50s. Watch for updates closer to departure.

X. Schedule:

Friday – May 16th, 2025

  • 6:00 Meet at CCPC
  • 6:30 Departure from CCPC Church
  • 10:30-11:30 arrive at North Park Camp
  • 12:00 Lights out

Saturday – May 17th, 2025

  • 7:00 AM – Reveille
  • 8:00 AM – Breakfast
  • 9:15 AM – Depart for Tippa Canoe
  • 10:00 AM – Canoeing on Mountain Fork River
  • 2:00 PM – Return to camp
  • 3:00 PM – Free time / hiking / activities
  • 6:00 PM – Dinner
  • 8:30 PM – Campfire Program
  • 10:00 PM – Lights out7:00—Reveille

Sunday – May 18th, 2025

  • 7:00 AM – Reveille
  • 8:30 AM – Depart Camp
  • 12:00–1:00 PM – Arrive back at Otto7:00 – Reveille

XI. Miscellaneous Notes:

Canoe Details:
Canoe pickup is at Tippa Canoe parking area (6768 US-70 Broken Bow, OK 74728). We’ll be transported then launch from Mountain Fork Park and float back to the Tippa Canoe parking area. Trip includes shuttle and all gear.
